Jon Hamm portrays the moody, mysterious and often devious Don Draper. Don Draper is an arrogant Ad Man who, in the first episode of season 3 of “Mad Man” proclaims “they hate us because they can’t do what we do.” Indeed sir, the suits are jealous of your creative genius and how well you wear your ..um, suits.
Don’s sexual habits in the bedroom have also taken a new turn turn as a hooker showed up on Thanksgiving to give smack him around in bed. He is living out the Usher song “Yeah”: I wanna a lady in the streets and a freak in the bed.” Don’s business partner, Roger Sterling’s 25 year old wife sets him up with the ‘lady’ who hilariously instructs Don she might sleep with him in 2 or 3 months time. It’s pretty funny how she preens around this sexual predator but I was relieved to see that Don’s depth and living two separate lives was not going to change now that he’s a single man again.
It’s very intriguing to watch as Don’s two worlds collides. He created a new life for himself after going to war, one that lead him to Madison Avenue. Now Don is single again and chasing every skirt that crosses his path, even his secretary. Poor thing she really thought the next morning they had started ‘something special’ get in line sister!
Jon Hamm is pretty amazing as well. He nails Don as a stoic ad man, and he is able to show off his comedic side in shows like “30 Rock” and hosting “SNL.” Let’s hope this mad, mad world will provide Hamm some more screentime!
